As we start 2023, I wanted to share a couple of prayers that I have personalized for myself and those for whom I pray.
Ephesians 3:14-21 "For this reason I kneel before the Father... I pray that out of Your glorious riches You may strengthen me with power through Your Spirit in my inner being , so that Christ may dwell in my heart through faith. And I pray that being rooted and established in love, I may have power... to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge- that I may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. Now to You, Lord who are able to do immeasurably more than all I ask or imagine, according to Your power that is at work within me, to You be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever. Amen"
Colossians 3:12-17 "Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, (by the power of Your Spirit, may I) clothe myself with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. ... (May I) forgive as the Lord forgave me. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity. Let the peace of Christ rule in my heart...and I am thankful...And whatever I do, whether in word or deed, (may I) do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through HIm.
Psalm 119:33-36 "Teach me, Lord, the way of Your decrees, that I may follow it to the end. Give me understanding, so that I may keep Your law and obey it with all my heart. Direct me in the path of your commands, for there I find delight. Turn my heart toward Your statutes."
Psalm 25:4-5 is similar. "Show me your ways, Lord, teach me your paths. Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God, my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long."
There are so many wonderful prayers in the Bible that we can pray for ourselves and our loved ones. These are just a sample. As you read your Bible, seek and you will find some prayers that are special to you.
