Reflections from Pat Robertson - 1930-2023

Pat Robertson, who is known for his involvement in CBN (Christian Broadcasting Network), the 700 Club, all the contributions to enhance people's lives and to share the Gospel all over the world, went home to be with the Lord on June 8, 2023. I would like to quote from a letter that his son, Gordon sent about Pat's comments in his final hours. I think they will be an encouragement to you as an example of a person who tried to hear and follow the Lord for much of his life.

"In his final days, he often talked about heaven and his desire to be with Jesus. During one of these times of reflection he shared this with my sister, Ann: "I tried to listen to the Lord. I loved you all. I walked with the Lord. I hope I've passed that on to you."

Later in the letter, Gordon shared a message that Pat had recorded to share with his multigenerational family. A message that Pat believed with all his heart. "I want you to know that you can always trust in God. He will never fail you. He's never failed me in my whole life, and He'll never fail you. So, I want you to know that you can trust in Jesus Christ all the way through. Don't ever doubt His goodness because He will always be there for you."

My thoughts: In our daily lives, it is so easy to get caught up in the busyness of life, that sometimes, God is not the center, the rock, the foundation upon which we live, day to day. But if we live like that, we are not living in the fullness of all that God has for us. God longs for a close relationship with us and we are free to want to spend time with Him or not. I have said this before, "When you think about a person you love, you look forward to spending time with that person and sharing your life with him/her. When I think about loving God, I want to pursue that same desire: spending time with Him and sharing my life with Him."

I am not always as successful in doing so as I would like to be, but just like meeting an old friend, each time I reach back out to the Lord, He is there, ready to love me more than I can imagine.

I echo Pat's statements about the faithfulness of God. I have experienced the same. Reflect on your life to remember all the times that God has been there for you. If you would like to share about God's faithfulness in your life, please enter your comments in the form below. Thank you. God bless you in your journey.
