Where Do I Start?

When we think about our paths in life, when we are young, we wonder where we will be going. When we are old, we reflect on the paths we have taken. But how can we know the best path?

Scripture gives us clues. I have included a few and there are many more for those of you who want to explore further. When reflecting on your life, if you are just starting out, this is a good guide for you. If you are older or have taken a path that has not been in your best interest, it is never too late to start over. In both cases, God will help you every step of the way.

Psalm 121 (NIV)

1 I lift up my eyes to the mountains—where does my help come from? 2 My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.

3 He will not let your foot slip— he who watches over you will not slumber; 4 indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.

5 The Lord watches over you— the Lord is your shade at your right hand; 6 the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night.

7 The Lord will keep you from all harm— he will watch over your life; 8 the Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.

Proverbs 16:3 (NIV)"Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and He will establish your plans."

Proverbs 3:6 (The Living Bible) "In everything you do, put God first, and He will direct you and crown your efforts with success."

God is the creator of everything, so to me, it seems as if He would know best how to be successful, happy, peaceful and healthy. Since He knows what is in our best interest, and desires that for us, I would venture to say that the best place to start is to ask Him. He answers through the Scriptures.

Jeremiah 29:11 "For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."
